Written by About five years ago I was working at a convenience store/deli on Christmas Eve and the night before I was doing some last minute shopping at Walmart. While there I saw a Santa Costume for $25.00. At that moment I had the bright idea of dressing up for Santa for work the next day. The next morning I got dressed in the costume and I thought I looked good. I showed up for work and my boss took one look at me and asked if I was planning on wearing that all day. I said “yup”! He then asked me if I ever saw the Eddie Murphy/Dan Aykroyd movie Trading Places. I told him I did. He then told me that if I had a fish sticking out of my shirt I would look just like Dan Aykroyd in the movie. About an hour later around 6:00 am my boss walked outside and saw that I was having a cigarette dressed in the Santa costume. He shook his head and told me that for that day only I should smoke in the office because he did not want little kids going by and seeing Santa smoking. About two hours after that things started to get weird because little kids were going in the store with their parents and they saw Santa working behind the counter. They were all happy to see me, wanted to ask me a bunch of questions, and tell me what they wanted for Christmas. My boss told me that because I decided to dress the part, I have to also play the part. This lasted a few hours and then my boss had me do some deliveries dressed as Santa. All I’m going to say is I am glad I was sober because every office I went to wanted photos of everyone taken with me and they were offering me drinks. At the end of the night I went into my bosses office with the end of day reports. He was having a few drinks with his friends. I looked around and with a grin on my face I told him that because I thought today went so well, and because it was Kwanzaa in a few day could I….” he then cut me off and yelled “NO!” he then gave me a dope slap and threw me out of the office.
